littlepalmsLittle Palms is built by a parent, for parents — so this page is written the way we'd want another company to write it for our own family. No legalese, no tricks.
Very little. If you send a field report or suggest a spot, we keep what you submit (your answers, an optional tip, an optional photo). If you choose to leave an email so we can tell you when your report goes live, we keep that too — for that purpose only. If you email us, we have your email because you emailed us.
We never ask on arrival, and we never will — a permission box before you know what a site even is doesn't deserve a yes. Your browser only asks when you tap “Nearest first” or “use my location”, and if you decline, the guide works fine without it.
So that the guide is useful the moment it loads, we use the rough location that comes with your IP address — something every website receives automatically just by being visited. It is city-level, it tells us Boynton Beach rather than your street, and we use it for two things only: picking the right city for the weather, and ordering the list roughly by what's near you. We don't store it, and it isn't tied to you. If it lands on the wrong city — a VPN will do that — tap “use my location” to correct it.
Distances printed on a card (“2.4 mi”) only ever appear once you've granted precise location. We'd rather show you nothing than a number that looks exact and is off by a town.
Distances are worked out on your device — those coordinates go nowhere at all. Local weather is the one exception, and here is exactly what happens: we round your position to about seven miles, enough to tell Boynton Beach from Coconut Creek but not enough to point at a street, and your browser sends that rounded pair straight to Open-Meteo, our weather provider. It never reaches our servers, and we never store it. Without it, the card shows Boynton Beach.
The area name on the card (“near Coconut Creek”) is worked out on your device by comparing you to the spots already listed here — there is no look-up service involved.
There is no photo upload on this site — if you want to send one, you email it to us, so nothing lands here without a person on both ends. We only publish photos where no child's face is identifiable, whoever took them. If you send us a photo and later want it taken down, ask and it comes down; no reason needed.
We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to count visits and see which features help people — no cookies, no tracking you across the web, no advertising pixels, no selling data. Ever. That's why there's no cookie banner: there's nothing to consent to.
Featured spots are clearly labeled as sponsored. Sponsors get aggregate numbers (how many people visited the site) — never anything about you.
